The lander returned data on other gases, magnetic fields, and temperature (−153 °C/−243 °F) and returned a spectacular panorama and microscope views, the first from the surface of a comet. Using a radar system in concert with the Rosetta orbiter, Philae was able to probe the comet’s core, which turns out to be more porous than the surface.
