As with my work on ¡900, I propose to make the attempt, with the justification being, if not in this book, where else would it be done? Nobody else has looked at as many sources. Much of what follows will be similar to my arguments concerning the determination of the Olympic program in ¡900. In making this determination, I am using the principles of what constitutes an Olympic event in the ¡990s, what was discussed o‡cially by the IOC from ¡894 to ¡903, and will also extrapolate a bit to consider Coubertin’s philosophy of Olympism.
