TEAM BUILDING FOR FIRE TEAM MEMBERS After the families in your potential survival group have shown they are compatible, the same “field trip” technique can be used to develop the fire team that will defend the survival group. One of the best available training opportunities is to take the fire team on a guided hunt. With the explosion of wild pigs throughout most of the United States, guided pig hunts are available to every team that is sufficiently motivated to take the challenge. Research high quality guided hunt services in your area that offer a tactical-style hunting option.
For the purposes of this book, the definition of a civilian fire team is a group of three to five experienced shooters who are willing and able to use firearms in closely coordinated action to defend a fortified residence in case of the prolonged absence of traditional law enforcement services. WHEN TO ACTIVATE A FIRE TEAM The absence of conventional law enforcement resources is likely in any catastrophic natural disaster or prolonged social collapse. When 911 dispatch centers no longer function or indicate that response time to a specific request for service is impossible to predict, your fire team must communicate and decide if its time to activate.
As the illustration shows, the focal point must be the front sight post or blade. The target should be described as a “general shape” against which the crystal clear front sight is placed. At the range, when the shooter is on target and using a gun with iron sites, keep repeating to the shooter, “Focus on the front sight.
