The Team Canada road show moved to Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens. Their dream had quickly become a nightmare. To a player, they had been embarrassed and humiliated in their own country. The national slap in the face by the impertinent Soviets turned the indifference felt by most Canadians before Game One into concerned interest.
Bad officiating was just one more hurdle Team Canada had to deal with on its rocky road to success. With only a few days left before the Moscow games were to begin, Sinden didn’t have his Moscow lineup resolved. He was still looking for the right eighteen to twenty players to meet the monumental challenge before them. But first, he had to deal with a brewing mutiny. Team Canada was still a team in name only.
